Barbara Ann (Mckoy) Thompson

Ms. Barbara Ann (McKoy) Thompson, closed her final chapter of uncertain rest on this earth February 13, 2023 in Laurinburg, NC.

In departing she has left a legacy of joy, understanding, and compassion to her family and friends.

There will be a memorial service held at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service and Crematorium Chapel on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 1:00 pm officiated by Elder Roy Miller.

She was born October 1, 1952 to the late James and Stella McKoy in Laurinburg, NC.  Barbara was the first African American class to graduate from Scotland High School in 1970. After high school she attended Florida Memorial in Miami, Florida where she studied music.  She worked for the Scotland County School System and the Scotland County Health Department.

Those who were fortunate to bask in her infinite love are her daughters; Mrs. Yolanda Miller (Roy) of Rockingham, Kendra Thompson of Laurinburg; her son Kelvin Thompson of Hampton, VA; brother James McKoy (Vonna) of Okinawa, Japan; grandchildren Timothy Thompson, Jada Thompson, Arianna Cole, Darrian Thompson, Kayden Boykin, and Kiersten Miller; her special friends, Sophia Blue, Vanessa Quick, and Marlinda Garrett; and other relatives and friends.

Bumgarner Family Funeral Service and Crematorium is assisting the Thompson family.
