Barbara (Webb) Blake

Barbara W. Blake, 68, passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2020, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, December 27, 2020 at Blackwood Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery in Candor, officiated by Rev. Billy Glover and Tony Sedberry.. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, please practice social distancing and wear a mask or another form of face covering. Barbara will lie in state from 1:30-2:30 pm at Blackwood Chapel Baptist Church. Services will be live streamed on the funeral home’s Facebook page.

Born April 4, 1952 in Richmond County, she was a daughter of the late Bill and Geneva Greene Webb. Barbara was a three-time breast cancer survivor, and since 1983, even with her declining health, she was still able to do all the things she loved to do and carry on with her work.  She was an independent insurance agent with an Associate’s degree in Accounting and she sold Avon.  She was a very successful woman.  Barbara was a member of Blackwood Chapel Baptist Church, where she was the Beginner’s Sunday School class teacher.   She also was a member of the Gideon’s Auxiliary. Barbara loved her flowers and working in the garden. She loved her dog Sophie, traveling and shopping, the beach, and spending time with her family and grandchildren who were her life. Barbara loved interacting with people and never met a stranger. She enjoyed going to the farmer’s market and flea market.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Doug Blake of the home; son, Josh Blake and his wife, Ashley of Mt. Gilead; daughter, Angie Hewett and her husband, Matt of Mt. Gilead; grandchildren, Hannah Rice, Peyton Rice, Mason Hewett, Summer Hewett, Taylor Blake, and Kaeleigh Blake; and her sister, Katie Tyson of Ellerbe.  She is preceded in death by her brother, Roger Webb.
