Mr. Arthur James Williams, Jr., 81, of 608 Bee Gee Road died Saturday, October 19, at Southeastern Regional Hospital.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Centre Presbyterian Church officiated by the Rev. Dr. Doug Hix. Burial will follow in the Centre Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Effie Watson Lee Williams; two daughters, Sandra Stamler of Charlotte and Barbara Craig of northern Virginia; a sister, Julia Dean of Ringgold, GA; and 5 grandchildren.
Born June 21, 1921 in Scotland County, he was a son of the late Arthur James and Martha Reese Williams. He was a US Army veteran of World War II, receiving the Purple Heart. In service he served as a chauffer for Gen. Eisenhower, Gen. MacArthur, President Truman, and the NATO commander. He was a retired cab driver in northern Virginia.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Monday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium in Laurinburg.
