Archie Joseph "Joey" Smith

Archie Joseph “Joey” Smith, 71, of Mt. Gilead passed away Thursday, November 14, 2024 at his residence.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, November 16, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Stoney Fork Baptist Church Cemetery in Mt. Gilead, officiated by Tony Sedberry. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service.

Born June 19, 1953, in Montgomery County, he is a son of Nelson Smith of Mt. Gilead and the late Boots Haywood Smith. Joey was co-owner of Smith Brothers Construction. He and his brother, Tony, worked side-by-side for 45 years. Joey loved his family, always joking around, and loved his music. He lived his life to the fullest and loved his grandchildren.

He is survived by his son, Todd Smith (Pam) of Star; sisters, Diane Smith of Mt. Gilead, Debbie Herman (Thomas) of Clairmont, and Darlene Russell (Anthony) of Troy; brother, Tony Smith (Jennifer) of Mt. Gilead; grandchildren, Haley, Hannah, and Heather; and great-grandchild, Emma. He is preceded in death by his sister, Kathy Morris.
