Archie Jacobs

Archie "A.J." Jacobs, 87, of Laurel Hill, passed away on February 17, 2026, at the Scottish Pines Nursing Home and Rehabilitation.

A private celebration of life will be held on Monday, February 23, 2026.

Born on June 1, 1938, in Marlboro County, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Arch and Alice Newton Jacobs. Archie retired from the Laurinburg and Southern Railroad as a diesel mechanic. Archie exemplified the spirit of a simple man—one who approached life with a diligent work ethic. His service as a Vietnam Veteran is a testament to his commitment and bravery, and he will be remembered for the sacrifices he made for his country. Outside of his professional life, Archie found joy in fishing, particularly at the beach where he enjoyed spot fishing.

He is survived by his beloved family, which includes his daughter, Felicia Roller and her husband William, of Hamlet; his sons, Glen Jacobs and his wife Debra, of Meridianville, Al; Kenneth Jacobs and his wife Stacy, of Nashville, TN; his grandchildren, Olivia Roller, of Hamlet; Steven Jacobs, of Eighty-four, PA; Brandy Jacobs, of Beaumont, TX and Cody Jacobs of Jackson, TN; and great-grandchildren, Jaxon Wilson of Jamestown, TN and Sonny James Jacobs of Jackson, TN.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha "Chunk" Hinson Jacobs, whose memory will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who knew them as a couple. Archie also joins his parents, and his siblings who have passed before him.
