Mrs. Annie Mae Penney Abernethy, 102, died Saturday, November 25, at the Edwin Morgan Center.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at East Laurinburg Baptist Church officiated by the Rev. Richard Tyson. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.
She is survived by a son, Jack Abernethy and wife, Dora of Laurinburg; three daughters, Alleen McFadyen and dot Zeilinski of Laurinburg, and Helen Burdell of Columbus, GA; 9 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 21 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Clinton Abernethy and daughter, Frances Herndon.
Born February 9, 1904 in Columbus County, she was a daughter of the late Jack and Mattie Long Penny. She was also a loving mother and grandmother, and a long time active member of East Laurinburg Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
