Annie Ruth (Norton) Thomas

Annie Ruth Norton Thomas, passed away at her residence on November 29, 2023, at the age of 81.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2023 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m., at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service and Crematorium.

Born on September 30, 1942, in Scotland County, she was a daughter of the late Jesse and Bessie Snuggs Norton. Annie had a deep love for crafts, an avid appetite for reading mystery and romance novels, and a desire for travel that saw her exploring many corners of the world. Annie's fondness for the simple pleasures, like watching old television shows and Disney movies with her family was matched only by her mental and physical resilience.

Annie's love for her family was the centerpiece of her world. She reveled in being surrounded by her loved ones.  Her beautiful green thumb was a testament to her nurturing spirit, as she tended to her garden with the same care and attention she gave to her family.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Gene Thomas of the home; granddaughter, Zanna Johnson and her husband, Justin Johnson of Jacksonville, NC; brother, Ben Norton and his wife, Pearl of Maxton; and her nieces and nephews.  Annie was preceded in death by her son, Stephen Ray Nunnally; brothers, Harold Norton and Jerry Norton; and sister, Peggy Green. Bumgarner Family Funeral Service and Crematorium and Chapel is assisting the Thomas family.
