Anne McRae Collins, 73, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Scotia Village in Laurinburg.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 2:00 PM on Friday, December 30, 2016 at Old Laurel Hill Presbyterian Church officiated by Rev. Deck Guess. Burial will be private at Hillside Memorial Park.
She is survived by; sisters, Sylvia M. McLean of Wagram and Alice McRae Hovis (Larry) of Wilmington, NC; brothers, John Styers McRae (Celeste) of Laurinburg, Hubert Vincent McRae, Jr. of Hendersonville, NC, W. Philip McRae (Gail) of Laurinburg and James Daniel McRae of Charlotte, NC; numerous nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
Born March 17, 1943 in Robeson County, she was a daughter of the late Hubert Vincent and Bernice Styers McRae, Sr. She was the widow of the late Robert F. Collins. She was a graduate of the first class of St. Andrews Presbyterian College that went all four years and graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education. She taught in the public school system for about 20 years in Pittsboro, NC, North Laurinburg and Covington Street Schools in Laurinburg. She was a former college recruiter for St. Andrews University and UNC-Wilmington. She was the first female officer of Old Laurel Hill Presbyterian Church. In her free time, she loved spending time at the beach, volunteering at Cape Hatteras Light House, reading and traveling. She visited each county in her home state of NC.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 29, 2016 6-8 pm at Scotia Village for her friends and other times at the home of her sister, Sylvia M. McLean, 17400 Arch McLean Road, Wagram, NC.
