Mrs. Ann Holt Mitchell Williamson, 76, of Scotia Village died Monday, June 30, at Scotland Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at the Laurinburg Presbyterian Church officiated by the Rev. Dr. Jim Holderness and Rev. Elizabeth Forester.
She is survived by her husband, Andrew G. (Andy) Williamson of Laurinburg; her son, Andrew G. (Drew) Williamson, Jr. and wife, Katherine (Kathy) Grimes Williamson of Laurinburg; her daughter, Van Williamson Garrison and husband, Richard Dowell Garrison, of Cary; her grandchildren Holt, Sara, and Berry Williamson of Laurinburg. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins in North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida.
She was born December 1, 1926 in Cusseta, GA, a daughter of the late David Brady Mitchell and Mable Howard Mitchell. She graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in journalism and did graduate work in education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After working as an elementary school teacher, she married Andrew Williamson in 1951 and moved to Maxton, NC and later to Laurinburg in 1960.
A homemaker, Mrs. Williamson also taught kindergarten and served as a volunteer teacher in childhood and adult literacy education. She was a member of Laurinburg Presbyterian Church.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the Morris Morgan Center, Scotia Village. The family will also greet friends following the memorial service in the Laurinburg Presbyterian Church fellowship hall.
