Mr. Andrew Monroe Smart, 96, of 12048 Purcell Road died Tuesday, July 4, at his residence.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Old Laurel Hill Presbyterian Church officiated by the Rev. Dr. Howard Whitehurst. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.
He is survived by two daughters, Montrose Mir and husband, Jorge and Rachel Vulhop and husband, Bill of Laurinburg; a sister, Louise Turner of Laurinburg; 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Born January 31, 1910 in Virgilina, he was a son of the late Ennis and Emma Landram Smart and widower of the late Marion Lee Howerton Smart whom he married in 1939. They moved to Laurinburg in 1942 and made their home at Rocky Ford. Later they moved to 5 points on the Aberdeen Road where he operated a gas station/grocery store and then they moved to McKenzie Crossroads where they also rand a gas station/grocery store.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
