Alvin Paul Britt, 70, formerly of East Laurinburg passed away on Friday, January 2, 2009 in Oklahoma City, OK.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the East Laurinburg Church of God officiated by the Rev. Jeff McGirt. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.
Alvin is survived by his sister, Wanda Lindeberg and husband, Christer, of Vero Beach, FL; three nieces; Natalee Moldenhauer and father, Dennis Moldenhauer of Elizabeth, CO, Elisse Tessier and friend, Tony Sanders of Edmond, OK, and Evette Spickelmier of Houston, TX. He is also survived by 3 great nephews and 3 great nieces.
Born February 23, 1938 in East Laurinburg, he was a son of the late Paul and Thelma Carlisle Britt. Alvin was a long time resident of East Laurinburg where he was a security officer and elevator operator at East Laurinburg Church of God. He also helped McDougald Funeral Home and Boles Funeral Home on funerals and provided lawn maintenance for many residents of East Laurinburg.
Alvin was the "heart and soul" of East Laurinburg and has left behind countless friends. He will be missed and loved always. May he rest in peace. He is home.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the East Laurinburg Church of God.
McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium is serving the family.
