Alleen Abernethy McFadyen, 90, finished her course in faith on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at her home.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at the East Laurinburg Baptist Church officiated by the Rev. Richard Tyson. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.
She is survived by her son, Jerry McFadyen of Laurinburg; her daughter, Linda Odom (Michael) of Laurinburg; her brother, Jack Abernethy (Dora) of Laurinburg; her sisters, Dot Zielinski of Laurinburg and Helen Burdell of Columbus, GA; her grandchildren, Camela McFadyen of Myrtle Beach, Tina Ivey of Fairmont, Jerry Ray McFadyen, Jr. of Honolulu, HI, Amy Hilburn and Stephanie Skipper of Laurinburg; 10 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, W. M. McFadyen, Jr. and her sister Frances Herndon.
Born March 19, 1923 in Laurinburg, she was a daughter of the late Elbert Clinton Abernethy and Annie Mae Penny Abernethy. She retired from Scotland Memorial Hospital after many years of service in different capacities. She was also a longtime, faithful member of East Laurinburg Baptist Church.
Visitation will be from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at the East Laurinburg Baptist Church.
