Alice Hall Mcnairy

Alice Hall McNairy, daughter of Louise Glenn and William Herbert McNairy, was born December 9, 1913 in Chester, SC and died Thursday, June 21, 2001 at Scotia Village, Laurinburg.

She graduated from Winthrop University in 1935 and Emory University with a degree in Librarianship. She taught French and mathematics in North Carolina high schools and retired in 1979 from the University of Florida Libraries in Gainesville, FL as a Librarian Emeritus. She moved from Gainesville to Scotia Village in 1994.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Scotia Village officiated by the Rev. Nancy Willard. A visitation will follow the memorial service.

She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth McNairy Elder of Pinebluff; her brother-in-law, Laurin "Spec" Sutherland of Laurinburg; her sister-in-law, Emma D. McNairy of New Port Richey, FL; 18 nieces and nephews and 21 great nieces and nephews.
