Alice Johnson Bumgarner, 76, of Seagrove, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2026 at Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro.

At Alice’s request, there will be no services.

Born July 4, 1949, in Randolph County, she was a daughter of the late Charles “Bud” and Meadows Dennis Johnson. Alice enjoyed spending time with her family at the beach and playing the card game, King Reverse. Alice and her late husband, “Sonny”, owned and operated Bumgarner Trucking for many years. Alice was a very caring person and was a caregiver to many, along with her late husband. Her husband was a retired US Army Veteran. During his deployment to many different countries, Alice’s favorite place was Germany.

She is survived by her daughter, Julie Bumgarner of the home; siblings, Doris Goldman of Little River, SC, William “Bill” Johnson (Patricia) of Rock Hill, SC, James Johnson of Greensboro, Kenny Johnson (Karen) of Asheboro, Ginger Key of Asheboro, Allen Dale Johnson (Jeanette) of Asheboro, and Debbie Miller (Randy) of Browns Summit; grandchildren, Brittiany Lee Barber (Jesse) of Asheboro and Arron Lane Hill (Emily) of Topsail Beach; great-grandchildren, Lilly Hill, Gracie Barber, Violet Lane Hill, Waylon Barber, and Wyatt Barber; special niece, Nicole Carter (Kyle) of Asheboro; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard “Sonny” Lane Bumgarner and brother, Ronald Johnson.
