Alexander Jones Biddell

Dr. Alexander Jones Biddell passed away at Brighton Gardens Senior Living Community in Raleigh, NC on Friday, February 3, 2017. He was born in Pembroke, NC on January 11, 1928, the son of N. Howard and Ruth Jones Biddell and the brother of Dr. Francis H. Biddell. He was the husband of the late Betty Johnson Biddell, the love of his life.
Alex is survived by his son Jim Biddell and wife Laura Jackson of Raleigh, son David Biddell and wife Melanie Biddell of Raleigh, and daughter Dr. Elizabeth Heinze and husband Matt Heinze of Hillsborough, NC. Alex was very proud of his beautiful grandchildren, Caitlin, Drew, and Grace Biddell, Alex King, Liam Heinze and Forrest Heinze.
Sergeant Biddell served in the army from 1945 to 1947. He was a member of the first graduating class from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry in 1954. He and his brother Francis shared a dental practice in Laurinburg, NC.
Alex was an avid golfer and UNC sports stalwart whose amiability was matched by his comedic wit. His strong faith was nurtured by the First Methodist Church of Laurinburg. He exuded a warmth of character and spirit to all who knew him. Above all, Alex Biddell loved his family with boundless devotion.
The family would like to thank the staff of Brighton Gardens Senior Living Community for their dedication and loving care.
A memorial service will be held at White Memorial Presbyterian Church at 2pm on Saturday, February 18th. White Memorial Presbyterian Church is located at 1704 Oberlin Road, Raleigh, NC 27608. The family will receive visitors at the church following the memorial service.
