Mr. Alex James Butler 76 of 396 North Lake Road, Red Springs, died Wednesday September 19, 2001 at his home.
Funeral services will be conducted 2PM Saturday September 22, 2001 at McDougald Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Vernon Locklear officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.
Born June 17, 1925 in Scotland County a son of the late Jim and Corina Watson Butler. He retired from Red Springs Wood Yard in 1988. He was preceded in death by his wife Annie Jane Butler in 1967 and a longtime companion Betty Faye Sullivan in 1991.
He is survived by a son Ricky Lynn Butler and wife Lou Ellen of St. Pauls step sons: Randy Sullivan and wife Rosemary of Red Springs , Stevie Sullivan and wife Tammy of Pembroke, daughters: Mary Ann Oxendine and husband Jamie of the home , Alane Locklear and husband Winford Jones of Red Springs, step daughter, June Sullivan of South Carolina, his brother Jessie James McPherson of Red Springs. Also surviving are 16 Grand children and a host of relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held 7-9pm Friday evening at McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium in Laurinburg.
