Ada Cherry passed away peacefully at her residence on August 7, 2026, at the age of 94. Her long and devoted life was marked by a commitment to the well-being of others and a spirit of generosity that left an enduring impact on those around her.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service and Crematorium Chapel officiated by Pastor Richard Tyson. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service and Crematorium.

Born on March 20, 1932, in Scotland County, she was a daughter of the late Lillie Mae Cherry.

Ada’s nurturing presence was readily felt by her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure to know her. Throughout her life, she found fulfillment in feeding and helping people, always generous with her time and resources. Her acts of kindness were not just a reflection of her character but became a defining feature of her everyday life—quiet gestures that spoke volumes about her caring heart.

She is survived by her sons, Ronald Cherry (Brenda) of Gibson and Johnny Howard Cherry of Laurel Hill; her daughter, Betty Cherry Hensley (Ernie) of Ohio; her ten grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Philip G. Cherry; and her brother, Jim Cherry.

Ada Cherry’s memory will be cherished for the example she set—a life lived with compassion, diligence, and thoughtful attention to the needs of others. Her influence endures within her family and among all who benefited from her selfless spirit.
