Mr. A. V. Townsend, 90, formerly of Midland Way died Thursday, February 12, at Scotia Village.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Laurinburg Presbyterian Church officiated by the Revs. Jim Holderness and Elizabeth Forester.
He is survived by two sons, Jimmy Townsend of Fayetteville and David Townsend of Mt. Pleasant, SC; two brothers, Memory Townsend of Louisville, KY and Norwood Townsend of Long Beach, CA; a sister, Ruby McQueen of Clarkton; 4 grandchildren.
Born December 13, 1913 in Clarkton, he was a son of the late Alex Roy and Magnolia Memory Townsend. He was a retired salesman for Armour Packing Company and later Luter Packing Company.
A.V. was a former Deacon and Elder at Laurinburg Presbyterian Church where he was also a member of the Mena
