A visitation will be held Wednesday, August 20, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service in Troy.
Pattie was the daughter of the Rayvon and Aileen Surrat Burris. She grew up surrounded by the warmth of her siblings, and though she was preceded in death by her sister, Judy Benton and brother Donnie Burris, her life continued to be enriched by the presence of her brother, Jimmie Burris (Pat) of Albemarle, and sisters, Marilyn Tedder (Ernest) of Mt. Gilead, and Bonnie Efrid (Dean) of Norwood.
Pattie is survived by her beloved husband, David Mike Gillis. Together for 53 years, they built a life full of joy, and unwavering support for one another. Their home was shared with their daughters, Tracy Scott (Jed) of Troy, Brandy Gillis of Troy, and Kasey Byrd (Shawn) of Mt. Gilead. Pattie’s legacy also lives on through her six adored grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
Professionally, Pattie dedicated many years to Clayson Knitting, where she was valued for her meticulous office work. She was known for her faith-filled spirit and her commitment to Tabernacle Baptist Church. Pattie’s faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her through each chapter with grace and strength.
Pattie's interests were as diverse as they were passionate. She loved to travel, exploring new places and creating memories that she would cherish. Yet, it was the time spent with her children and grandchildren that Pattie valued above all else. Each moment was an opportunity to impart wisdom, share stories, and express her boundless love.
Those who knew Pattie will remember her as the embodiment of love and faith. She approached every day with a heart full of devotion, not only to her family and friends but to everyone she encountered. Her warmth was infectious, her smile a beacon of comfort, and presence as source of stability and affection.
